Andrea Bernard and Cheryl Schwartz, Co-Directors of the Center for Early Education
Andrea (DiPesa) Bernard is a native of Swampscott with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. She is currently enrolled at Salem State University in the M.Ed. Advanced Studies program (expected graduation May 2019) and has worked in the field of Early Childhood for over 20 years. As Co-Director of the Center for Early Education, her responsibilities include curriculum management, staff supervision, and parent communication.
Andrea is a wealth of knowledge in current teaching strategies and incorporating technology in the daily management of childcare centers. Andrea lives in Marblehead with her husband John and their three children, Dylan, Mia and Piper.

Cheryl is a graduate of Lesley College, and brings over 40 years of teaching/directing to this position.
Cheryl has taught in public school, private Hebrew Day School, afternoon Hebrew School, and preschool; she has tutored, both privately and through the public school system and was the Director of the Temple Israel Preschool until 2003, when Temple Beth El and Temple Israel merged.
While at CSH, Cheryl has been Head Teacher for the transitional preschool class, Judaic coordinator for the preschool, CSH Family Life Chairperson, CSH Community Outreach Coordinator, CJE classroom teacher, and, most recently, co-director of the CJE.
She and her husband Arthur live in Salem and are the proud parents of three adult children: Mark, a teacher at Swampscott Middle School; Naomi, who is finishing her course-work for a Ph.D. and works part-time for the Red Sox Foundation; and Scott, who lives and works in San Francisco. All three children are graduates of the Temple Beth El/Shirat Hayam Preschool!
